Ways to get your body moving: Sometimes it’s mind over body. If you are not currently active check with your physician first.  O.K. now that we got that out of the way….

It’s very important to keep our body active. One can do this by walking, biking, yoga, dancing ( my favorite, yes even at MI Next Phase) lifting weights, use resistance bands, gardening and more.  Do activities you enjoy. I would normally say….. do the activity with a friend or coworker. Get family involved. Do inside and outside activities. Change it up. However, due to COVID – 19 for the time being one needs to be safe and be creative while staying at home or social distancing. ( This social distancing will not last for ever!!)

Did I mention dancing….Did you know that dancing can reverse the signs of aging in the brain. I am glad to hear this fun fact.

I love to dance. Especially line dancing since my husband has two left feet. He’ll get out on the dance floor with me in a group or the occassional slow dance however not his comfort zone. I especially wanted to learn a few country line dances for my oldest son’s wedding. I went to youtube and practiced many line dances like Watermelon Crawl, Copper Head Row and others. I had to hit replay several times to get the steps imbedded in my brain.

I came across this study from The Hearty Soul with facts to support dancing can reverse the signs of aging in the brain.

I think you’ll be surprised to the supporting facts. Have fun checking out this information about dancing and the brain. How about learning something new while being safe yet staying active! Line dancing can be fun! It’s something one can learn on your own. In the privacy of your own home with no one watching! When the time comes you’ll be ready to do the dance with a group!

Staying active will help me get ready for the camping season in Michigan. We are seasonal campers at a wonderful campsite. Visit MI De-camping page where I share seasonal camping experiences, fun activities, recipes and small space organizing in a Rv “tiny cottage”.

Smores anyone!
